The following report is from sources inside Iran and has yet to be confirmed.
Recently, Iranian media reported the resignation of Central Bank Director General Mahmoud Ahmadi, a close friend of recently sacked Central Bank chief Valiollah Seif. Ahmadi had to this day resigned six times, only to be returned to his post time and again by Seif.
In a private gathering, a Central Bank exports office director, going by the name of “Samad K,” shed light on untold stories of why Iranian officials involved in the country’s economic and financial affairs suddenly resign.
Sources cite Mr. “Samad K.” referring to Ruhollah Rahmani, the Iranian-American official who in August 2016 was appointed as “Director-General of the Office of Innovation Affairs and Investment Support” in the Ministry of Communication. This assignment was based on orders from the “Deputy of Technology and Innovation,” sources say.
Rahmani resigned after three months in this ministry and easily exited Iran. Only after his safe exit were his involvement in various cases of ministry embezzlement revealed.
Who is Ruhollah Rahmani?
He is the son-in-law of Gholam Ali Hadad Adel, a former MP and known for his very close relations to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and the brother-in-law of Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader’s son. Word indicates Khamenei prefers Mojtaba as his heir.
According to “Samad K.,” the Thamen al-Haj finance/credit firm embezzlement case was revealed only after the main figure involved, Rahmani himself, was exited out of Iran in complete coordination with senior Iranian regime officials.
Nour Ali Abdulmalaki, “Director of the Currency Violators Evaluation Working Group” left Iran in March with $25 million, according to “Samad K.” No Central Bank official said a word about this issue.
Who was Nour Ali Abdulmalaki?
He was the former Director-General of Protection at Iran’s Central Bank and enjoys very close relations with Seif. Despite retiring in 2016, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had him posted in a position yet again.
In reference to Ahmadi’s resignation, Mr. “Samad K.” adds it is not clear what aftershocks will come in regards to embezzlement after this resignation. Whatever it may be, it will most likely make a significant amount of noise.
